Little Bits...

After a much needed win against Arkansas, I finally remembered I have a blog. So, here are some updates:

1. My European History teacher, David Bowden, was arrested on 3 counts of indecent exposure. That explains why he always looked so damn creepy and hasn't been in class for the last week or two.

2. UK football- 3-3. Right were I expected them to be. I knew we were going to slide out of the "Death Row" part of the schedule with a win, but I would've preffered it be over Florida or Alabama. Hell, beating the ole' ball coach wouldn'tve been so bad, either. But the victory over Auburn is an enormous one, and now we're transitioning into the "easy" part of our schedule. LA- Monroe and EKU are the high points of this stretch and it's good that we have regained our confidence with a huge win over the heavily- favored Tigers.

3. UK Basketball- I'll admit it, I didn't get to watch Big Blue Madness. However, I DID watch the scrimmage and I really wasn't too impressed with our overall play. We were quick and had some nice dunks, but I'd like to see a little bit of an improvement in our jump shots. I know it's dribble- drive, but jump- shots are always good and can't hurt too much.

4. Calipari's Speech- I saw it on the internet. Amazing. I wrote down the high point of it and put it on the family fridge. "My vision... my vision is one of celebration and banquets, diplomas and banners, rings and parades... a return of this legendary program back to its rightful place atop the mountain of college basketball..."

if that quote doesn't inspire you, you have no soul and no heart.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that Erin Andrews, my dream girl, should be at the game on Saturday. Expect pictures of us together, or a crushed spirit. Either one.

Overlooked...

First, let me say this. After reading all the articles and looking at the stats for Saturday's game (WHICH I WILL BE ATTENDING), I think Kentucky has a longshot to win, but it is a LONG shot. Urban Meyer has looked past every "sub par" SEC team that he has played, and it is evident. Look at Ole Miss last year, no one thought they even had a chance, and then BAM. What happens? You turn on ESPN the next morning because you didn't even BOTHER to watch the game and all you see is Tim Tebow's annoying ass saying "You will never see another team work as hard as ours..." blah blah blah blah blah blah. And then they won the BCS National Championship against Oklahoma (even though it should have been Utah. But, back to what I was saying. Florida looked past Tennessee, and that’s why it was so close. Here's what I think we have to do to win this game, but keep in mind I am not a football guy, its just what I think will need to be done to keep it close or pull the upset.
1. MUST keep the score close in the first quarter. Preferably down by NO MORE than a TD (tied or a lead in UK’s favor couldn’t be bad, either… )
2. IMPERATIVE that Mike Hartline and Randall Cobb connect for a significant amount of yards, maybe 50-100 yards, with a couple TD’s mixed in.
3. CRUCIAL- Kentucky must use the clock in their favor. Take your time, Mr. Hartline, just keep Tim Tebow off of the field.
4. 3RD DOWN- Kentucky MUST convert on third downs, with at least 50% efficiency. Trevard Lindley & Co. must hold Florida to NO MORE 45% on 3rd down conversions.
5. And the obvious… WIN THE TURNOVER BATTLE!!!!!!
So, those are my thoughts for the Florida game on Saturday. Regardless if we win, I know it is going to be a BLAST… Commonwealth Stadium always is.

Calm After the Storm

I am not going to lie. I did not watch the UK/ UL football game on Saturday. I was at work, where the Whistle Stop does not receive ESPNU as one of their sports channels. Instead, I watched North Texas get SLAUGHTERED by Nick Saban's fearless Alabama Crimson Tide. It was one of the most painful experiences I've ever endured emotionally. While my CATS were barely slipping by the dirty Cards, I had to rely on phone calls from my Mom and Logan to have an idea of how the Cats were playing. However, when it came down to that final pass play that UK usually breaks down during, the game switched over. I recieved closure as I watched the ball get swatted down by UK's defense. I wish I could give more details so it at least SOUNDS like I know what I'm talking about, but I don't.



However I DO know that UK's QB Coach broke his wrist when he got hit by a dirty Card running down the field without regard to those on the sideline. Tragic.



On a lighter note, my heart races more and more every day as BASKETBALL season is only 49 days away.

Post #1.. UK/ UL Football Tomorrow!

As I sit on my throne of genius...ness... I contemplate what is arguably the most important game (to the fans) of the season. I keep hearing UL Coach Kragthorpe say that he has tricks up his sleeve, but after watching their previous game against an abysmal (to say the least) Indiana State team, I wonder JUST what he could have. Maybe the trick is that the whole team will roll over dead.

Also, I just can't keep the fact that this might be King Rich Brooks last season. After all he's done for us, from taking us out of the ungodly NCAA Sanctions to three straight bowl victories, I feel that a void will be in the football section of my heart if he leaves. I know that he will leave us in the hands of Joker Phillips, but if you know about my obsession with Batman, you know how weary I am of the name Joker.

I'm extremely confident that UK will win tomorrow, but there is just a dark cloud looming over my head as to what the future will hold for my beloved Cats.
